“Düsseldorfer Blatt”: The language of dance is a universal means of intercultural communication

BERLIN, May 12. /Dunyo IA/. The German online publication “Düsseldorfer Blatt” reported on the conclusion of the 3rd “Lazgi” International Dance Festival, which took place in Khiva and became one of the most vibrant cultural events of Spring 2026, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The article on this topic was prepared by the publication's Editor-in-Chief, Svetlana Reinwarth, who noted that the grand opening and closing ceremonies of the festival were held in the historical Ichan-Kala complex in Khiva.

According to experts, the event was distinguished by its high level of organization, vibrant national colours, and the unification of choreographic arts from different countries on a single stage.

The German publication paid special attention to the “Lazgi” dance, which is one of the symbols of Uzbek cultural heritage. It is noted that in 2019, “Lazgi” was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, confirming its global significance.

At the end of the festival, winners were announced in various categories. The Grand Prix was awarded to a representative of Uzbekistan, while participants from Turkey, Malaysia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and China emerged as winners in different nominations. Special awards were also presented to performers from Kyrgyzstan, India, Japan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.

As “Düsseldorfer Blatt” emphasizes, the “Lazgi” festival once again demonstrated that the language of dance is a universal means of intercultural communication. For a few days, Khiva became an international stage, uniting the traditions, music and choreographic arts of different nations.
