“The Diplomatic Insight”: South Korea ranks among the top three long-haul markets for tourist arrivals to Uzbekistan

ISLAMABAD, September 11. /Dunyo IA/.  Pakistan’s “The Diplomatic Insight” has published an article on the development of tourism cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that 26,500 South Korean tourists visited Uzbekistan in the first seven months of 2026, placing the Republic of Korea third among long-haul markets, after China and Türkiye. Tourist arrivals have exceeded pre-pandemic levels, rising from 35,500 in 2019 to 46,300 in 2025. The main factors behind this growth are the 30-day visa-free regime in place since 2018 and the availability of direct flights.

Publication emphasizes that the Republic of Korea is also an important partner in developing the tourism sector. In cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), plans include attracting experts to specialized higher education institutions and organizing professional internships, while a Korean Language and Culture Center has been proposed at the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand.
