NEW DELHI, October 6. /Dunyo IA/. India-based magazine “Business Central Asia” has published a special issue dedicated to the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Issue provides extensive coverage of Uzbekistan’s economic reforms, the development of entrepreneurship, country’s investment potential, digital transformation and tourism opportunities, as well as its open foreign policy and expanding international cooperation. The authors highlight that Uzbekistan’s modern identity is taking shape through the combination of its rich historical and cultural heritage with dynamic economic development, technological transformation and new opportunities for business and investment.

Particular attention is given to the results of the economic transformation launched in 2016. Magazine examines, in particular, liberalisation of the foreign exchange market, improvements in tax administration, privatisation of state-owned enterprises, development of special economic zones, expansion of digital public services and advancement of public-private partnership mechanisms.

A significant part of the special issue is devoted to Uzbekistan-India cooperation. In an article titled “Uzbekistan, India elevate ties to strategic partnership”, magazine highlights a new stage in bilateral relations and the growing scope of trade and economic engagement. According to the publication, bilateral trade increased by 33 percent in 2025, exceeding $1.3 billion, while the portfolio of investment projects involving Indian companies in Uzbekistan surpassed $7 billion. Particular emphasis is placed on the prospects for cooperation in digital technologies and artificial intelligence, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, education, geology, mining, nuclear energy and the production of high-value-added goods.

“Business Central Asia” presents Uzbekistan as a country where its rich historical heritage and dynamic development are shaping a new national profile. Alongside the ancient centres of science and culture - Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva - the magazine highlights the younger generation, entrepreneurship, technology, investment and innovation.

Authors draw a parallel with the modern-day interpretation of the Great Silk Road, noting that today it serves not only as a route for the movement of goods, but also as a channel for the exchange of knowledge, technology, human capital and innovative solutions. The special issue thus contributes to a deeper understanding among Indian audiences of the scale of transformation underway in New Uzbekistan, as well as the prospects for further advancing the Uzbekistan-India strategic partnership.
