URALSK, October 6. /Dunyo IA/.  Diplomats from the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the city of Aktau met with the Akim of the West Kazakhstan Region Nariman Turegaliyev, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the negotiations, parties reviewed matters of bilateral cooperation, as well as trade, economic, tourism, and cultural ties. According to the Akim’s Office of the West Kazakhstan Region, mutual trade volume reached $41 million in the first half of the current year.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed the transit of significant volumes of cargo belonging to the Republic of Uzbekistan through the territory of the West Kazakhstan Region, as well as ensuring its prompt and secure movement.

It is expected that towards the end of the current year, the reconstruction of the “Syrym” primary international checkpoint will be completed, which will reduce the formed traffic congestion.

Nariman Turegaliyev noted a high interest in developing cooperation with the regions of Uzbekistan and announced the intention to organize a visit of a delegation consisting of representatives from the region's business circles.

Dynamic development of ties in the tourism sector was also highlighted. In the current year, flights on the Uralsk–Tashkent route were operated twice a week. The issue of resuming flights on this route is being considered for the near future.

Matter of opening the Trade House of Uzbekistan in the city of Uralsk was also discussed. The parties agreed on establishing a Trade House in the West Kazakhstan Region to market the export goods of Uzbekistan and to further increase the volume of trade and economic operations.

Representatives of the Consulate General also held a meeting at the “Atameken” Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs with local businesspersons of the West Kazakhstan Region. Event was attended by major entrepreneurs operating in the fields of food industry, animal husbandry, manufacturing, and petrochemistry.

Kazakhstani businesspersons expressed interest in developing and strengthening ties with the entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan. Representatives of the “ALNAT” enterprise in the city of Uralsk announced their intention to introduce sausage products to the market of Uzbekistan and open a company in our country.
