MINSK, September 29. /Dunyo IA/.  Interregional cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus continues to demonstrate strong momentum and a practical focus, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Another important step in this direction was the working visit to Uzbekistan by a representative Belarusian delegation led by Alexey Kushnarenko, Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, which included productive meetings and talks in Andijan Region.

Visit by the central region of Belarus was organized as part of efforts to implement the agreements reached by the two heads of state to increase bilateral trade turnover to $2 billion in the coming years. The focus of the discussions was on moving beyond conventional trade towards deeper industrial cooperation, establishing joint production facilities and strengthening humanitarian exchanges.

Program of the Minsk delegation’s visit covered key industrial sites in the region. The Belarusian delegation studied in detail the production capabilities of the Andijan Technopark for manufacturing smart water meters, and also visited the assembly facilities of “UzAuto Motors” and “ADM Global” automotive cluster to discuss prospects for cooperation in mechanical engineering.

Minsk delegation also familiarized itself with the activities of the renowned Belarusian brand “Mark Formelle” in Altynkul District, which serves as a notable example of successful economic cooperation in the region, and took part in ceremonial events marking the expansion of production under a new project. “Mark Formelle IT” LLC enterprise operating here currently produces more than 60 types of knitted fabric, using advanced European and Asian technologies.

One of the key practical outcomes of the visit to Andijan was the signing of a separate, substantive Agreement on Cooperation in Healthcare. The document provides for systematic interaction between specialized institutions in the two regions.

Particular emphasis is placed on joint efforts in the provision of primary and specialized medical care, as well as in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology. The projects will include the exchange of experience between practicing physicians, joint consultations and the introduction of advanced Belarusian methods into medical practice in Andijan Region.

Vocational education also emerged as an important area of shared interests. The leadership of the Main Department of Education of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee discussed with Uzbek counterparts the prospects for young people from Andijan Region to study at leading colleges in the capital region.

As a further step towards deepening trade, economic and investment ties, the Minsk Region expressed its readiness to host a delegation of Andijan’s business community to provide an in-depth overview of the opportunities offered by Belarusian industrial and agricultural enterprises.

Outcome of the talks will be the development of detailed “roadmaps” designed to translate the agreements reached into concrete economic indicators and investment projects.
