CAIRO, September 28. /Dunyo IA/.   A delegation of Uzbekistan consisting of more than two hundred people paid a working visit to Egypt, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was organized with the aim of infusing the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Egypt with new practical substance, as well as expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in the field of agriculture.

Primary objective of the delegation was to study Egypt's experience in reclaiming desert lands for agricultural use, cultivating agricultural and forage crops in areas with centralized center-pivot irrigation, developing livestock farming on newly reclaimed lands, as well as the mechanisms for financing this sector.

During the visit, Egypt's experience in the field of sustainable water resource management, application of modern irrigation technologies, as well as the treatment and reuse of wastewater was studied in detail.

At the proposal of the Governor of the Navoiy Region Normat Tursunov, an agreement was reached to organize a visit to Uzbekistan by a working group composed of experienced specialists from the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt.

One of the significant outcomes of the visit was the agreements secured in the field of agricultural research and development. The parties exchanged views on the implementation of new joint projects between Uzbekistan and Egypt in the agrarian sector.

In particular, agreements were reached with the Agricultural Research Center (ARC) of Egypt to conduct trials in the conditions of Uzbekistan of high-yielding varieties of wheat, maize and rice varieties adapted to desert climates.

Possibilities of establishing experimental sites in the Navoiy Region and the subsequent opening of a branch of the Egyptian Research Center in Uzbekistan were also discussed.

This visit has become an important step toward elevating Uzbek-Egyptian cooperation in the field of agriculture from the stage of sharing experience to the level of implementing practical projects.
