TASHKENT, August 8. /Dunyo IA/. Starting from the new school year, students in Denmark will be required to orally “defend” their homework assignments, Dunyo IA correspondent reports.

According to the German newspaper Bild, the measures are being introduced in response to the misuse of artificial intelligence by students.

Many students are increasingly using AI to complete written assignments. In response, Denmark’s Ministry of Education has decided that students will be required to provide an oral defence of their written homework. This will allow teachers to verify whether students have genuinely understood the subject matter.

As announced by Minister of Education Magnus Heunicke, the new rules will take effect after the summer holidays. The measure will initially apply to upper secondary school students.

In addition, the Ministry of Education plans to strengthen monitoring during examinations. Schools will be required to install special software on computers to monitor which digital tools students use when completing assignments.

Teachers will also be expected to conduct more written tests in the classroom, making it easier to determine whether students have completed their work independently. According to the minister, it is essential to prevent AI from “undermining competencies, professional knowledge and, above all, the ability to think independently”.
