CHOLPON-ATA, June 20. /Dunyo IA/. A jubilee event of the International Issyk-Kul Forum, founded 40 years ago at the initiative of the renowned writer and statesman Chingiz Aytmatov, was held in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the upper chamber of parliament, the forum, organized under the theme “The World at a Civilizational Turning Point: Moving into the Future Together,” was attended by First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sodiq Safoev.

The event also brought together delegations from Russia, Kazakhstan, China, the United Kingdom, Japan, Italy, and Spain, as well as representatives of international organizations.

Speaking at a panel session, Sodiq Safoev noted that the world is currently experiencing a period of profound geopolitical change and spiritual challenges. He emphasized that Chingiz Aytmatov’s ideas on humanism, historical memory, and intercultural dialogue remain relevant today.

Particular attention was given to the atmosphere of mutual trust that has emerged in Central Asia in recent years, the new stage of regional cooperation, and the strengthening of interparliamentary ties. It was noted that, thanks to the political will of the region’s leaders, Central Asia is becoming a space for cooperation and shared development.

The participants also emphasized that the peoples of Central Asia are united by a common history, culture, and values, and that strengthening regional identity remains one of the important tasks of the present day.
