Diplomats of Uzbekistan visit compatriots at Temporary Detention Center in Dagestan

• 175MAKHACHKALA, May 20. /Dunyo IA/. The diplomats of Uzbekistan visited Dagestan to review appeals from compatriots temporarily staying in the republic and to strengthen practical cooperation with the region’s competent authorities, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
As part of the visit, meetings were held with the leadership of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Dagestan, the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Nationals in Makhachkala, as well as representatives of relevant departments.
During the talks, the parties discussed issues related to protecting the rights and legitimate interests of Uzbek citizens, improving mechanisms for cooperation and information exchange, and accelerating the repatriation procedures for citizens placed in the Temporary Detention Center for administrative offenses.
Following the negotiations, the sides agreed on further mechanisms of cooperation, including the designation of a responsible officer to maintain permanent coordination with the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don on matters concerning the protection of the rights and interests of Uzbek citizens.
Separately, the diplomats conducted an on-site consular reception at the Temporary Detention Center in Makhachkala, where meetings and conversations were held with compatriots.
During the discussions with compatriots, existing problems and appeals were reviewed, necessary consular and legal explanations were provided, and information was shared about the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, measures to support citizens residing abroad, and the government’s consistent efforts to protect their rights and legitimate interests.
As a result of the work carried out, an agreement was reached to expedite, within the framework of current legislation, the repatriation procedures for 24 citizens of Uzbekistan to return home within the next ten days.
