BISHKEK, July 3. /Dunyo IA/. The Pervomayskiy District Court of Bishkek found former chairman of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Kamchybek Tashiev and seven other defendants guilty of attempting to seize power in the country, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

However, the actual prison term was replaced with three years of probation supervision. In case of violation of probation conditions or committing a new crime, the convicted individuals may be sentenced to actual imprisonment.
Among those convicted are also former Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament) Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, former MP Kurmankul Zulushev, public figure Bekbolot Talgarbekov, former Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Emilbek Uzakbaev, ex-MP Kurmanbek Dyikanbaev, former Deputy Prime Minister Aaly Karashev, and former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kursan Asanov.
At the same time, the court acquitted all defendants of abuse of official authority charges. The state prosecution had previously requested nine-year prison sentences for each of them. Lawyers for Kamchybek Tashiev and Kurmankul Zulushev stated that they intend to appeal the verdict. –
The criminal case is linked to the so-called “Letter of 75” – an appeal by a group of politicians, public figures, and former state officials to the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov calling for early presidential elections. After the appearance of the appeal, criminal proceedings were initiated against a number of its signatories. In February 2026, the President dismissed Kamchybek Tashiev from his post as head of the SCNS, stating that the decision was made to prevent a split in society.
