OSH, January 22. /Dunyo IA/. As part of Uzbekistan’s tourism development strategy through 2030, the country plans to increase the sector’s share of GDP from the current 3.5 percent to 7 percent, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing Kyrgyzstan’s national news agency “Kabar”.
Special emphasis will also be placed on the diversification of tourist destinations and the full use of the tourist opportunities of the regions.
It is noted that the achievement of this goal will be ensured by actively attracting investments, improving the quality of tourism services and creating new jobs.
Currently, more than 11 million foreign citizens come to Uzbekistan every year. By 2030, it is planned to increase this figure to 20 million people. Particular attention will be paid to increasing the share of tourists with a high chance of paying.
Among the strategic objectives is the goal to increase exports of tourism services to USD 6 billion per year.
A key factor in tourism development is infrastructure renewal. Transportation links between tourist cities will be improved and the number of domestic flights will be increased, with the aim of reducing travel times by at least threefold.
In addition, the number of 4- and 5-star hotels has been doubled, and high-level services have been expanded.
