MINSK, October 26. /Dunyo IA/.  An international online meeting entitled “Two Cities – One Language of Friendship”, dedicated to Uzbek Language Day on October 21st, was held at the Centre of Uzbek Culture, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event brought together students from Minsk and Namangan. As part of the cultural program, Belarusian students presented a theatrical performance about the life of the great thinker and statesman Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, staged in the tradition of the Belarusian folk puppet theatre known as “Batleika”.

As part of the project “Six Objects – Six Words – Six Stories”, young participants introduced national cultural symbols, including the Uzbek skullcap (tubeteika), a carved book stand (lavh), a traditional bowl (piyola), a Chust knife, khan-atlas silk fabric and Uzbek bread. The participants also recited ghazals by Alisher Navoi in Uzbek and Russian and took part in an intellectual quiz about Minsk and Namangan.

Meeting demonstrated that language serves as an important bridge between peoples and helps preserve spiritual values.
