Uzbekistan’s experience presented at the 59th session of the UN Commission on Population and Development in New York

NEW YORK, April 16. /Dunyo IA/. The 59th session of the Commission on Population and Development has commenced at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, with the participation of a delegation from Uzbekistan led by representatives of the National Statistics Committee, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Within the framework of the forum, which focuses on the interlinkages between population, technology, and sustainable development, up-to-date information on the country’s demographic situation was presented. It was noted that Uzbekistan’s population has exceeded 38 million, with more than half comprising young citizens.
In its statement, the Uzbek side placed particular emphasis on key policy priorities, including the development of human capital, the empowerment of women and youth, and the active introduction of digital solutions. It was underscored that these areas are being consistently advanced under the “Uzbekistan–2030” strategy led by Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Special attention was also given to the results of the population and agricultural censuses, conducted for the first time in decades using digital technologies. It was highlighted that the data obtained provides a solid foundation for informed decision-making in social and economic policy.
Uzbekistan reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation and its readiness to continue implementing the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development. Participation in the session reflects the country’s proactive stance in addressing the global agenda and sharing best practices in sustainable development.
