Uzbekistan’s agribusiness sector invests in Belarus livestock and increases agro-product exports

MINSK, April 15. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from the Kashkadarya region paid a productive working visit to Belarus, during which the foundations for a long-term strategic partnership were laid, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

As part of the trip, representatives of Uzbekistan studied the operations of livestock complexes and retail facilities in several districts of the Vitebsk region, including Braslav, Shumilino, Postavy and other areas.

During meetings with the leadership of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the parties discussed key issues of strengthening economic cooperation and creating mutually beneficial production chains.

The most important practical outcome of the mission was an agreement reached between the enterprises “Asl Yuksalish Savdo”, “Muborak qorako‘lchilik” and “Sirotinsky” livestock farm located in the Shumilino district.

According to the agreements, the Uzbek side will take a long-term lease of four thousand hectares of arable land. On this site, a large-scale project is planned to be launched, the first stage of which will be the rearing of one thousand head of cattle.

In parallel with investments in the agricultural sector, the export sector has seen significant development. The enterprise “Asl Yuksalish Savdo” signed a contract with the large retail chain CJSC “Dobronom”, providing for the annual supply of sixty thousand tons of agricultural products from Uzbekistan to Belarus. The assortment will include dried fruits, legumes, as well as melons and grapes.

In addition to the economic block, the parties paid attention to humanitarian ties. To activate tourist flows, it was decided to organize mutual study tours for representatives of the tourism business of the two countries.

Cultural interaction will also receive a new impetus: following the meeting with the head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, Yuri Senko, an initiative was approved to stage performances by the Kashkadarya Regional Theater in Minsk ahead of the upcoming high-level visit.
