“Origo”: Uzbekistan poised for Major Economic Breakthrough through the Organization of Turkic States

BUDAPEST, October 28. /Dunyo IA/.  Hungarian news portal “Origo” has published an article entitled “Uzbekistan is preparing for a big move, billions of dollars in opportunities could open up”, focusing on prospects for deepening Uzbekistan’s economic cooperation with the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Article notes that Uzbekistan is seeking to further deepen economic cooperation with the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). Ahead of the organization's 13th summit in Ankara, particular emphasis is being placed on expanding trade ties, implementing joint industrial projects, developing transport routes and advancing digital infrastructure.

Particular attention is given to Uzbekistan’s trade and economic ties with countries across the region. In 2025, Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover reached $81.2 billion, including $5 billion in trade with Kazakhstan and $3 billion with Türkiye. The article emphasises that further expansion of mutual trade involves not only increasing trade volumes but also establishing joint production chains.

Investment cooperation is also highlighted. According to the portal, between 2017 and 2025, investment from Turkic states into Uzbekistan exceeded $11.5 billion. The Turkic Investment Fund is cited as one of the mechanisms for supporting further cooperation, with the potential to facilitate financing for small and medium-sized enterprises with the involvement of international financial institutions.

Other promising areas highlighted in the article include the creation of a “Digital Turk Corridor”, development of high-speed communication links between data centers across the region, and the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, electronic transport documents and digital customs procedures.

Article concludes that the upcoming 13th OTS summit in Ankara and the preparation of the organization's strategy for 2027–2031 will help define the key priorities for economic cooperation, including expanding trade, promoting joint investment, developing transport infrastructure and advancing digital integration.
