“OSN”: Uzbekistan is becoming closer – How financial infrastructure connects the country with external markets

MOSCOW, September 14. /Dunyo IA/.   An article on the integration of Uzbekistan’s financial system into the international economy has been published on the website of the Russian media holding “Obshchestvennaya Slujba Novostey” (OSN), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that, as Uzbekistan marked the 35th Anniversary of Independence, the country reached record economic indicators: foreign trade turnover exceeded $81 billion in 2025, increasing by 20.7 percent. The economic distance between Uzbekistan and the rest of the world is narrowing, while the geography of its ties is expanding beyond the CIS to include China, Europe and other regions.

Publication highlights that the development of digital banking and payment systems has become a key factor in the competitiveness of the economy. In the first half of 2026, cross-border money transfers reached $9.3 billion, with more than 50 percent consisting of direct P2P transfers to bank cards. The growing share of transfers from Europe and the United States indicates the diversification of financial flows.

Particular attention is paid to the technological compatibility of national platforms. The joint solution integrating “HUMO” cards with “Alipay+” through mobile applications, including Octobank, is cited as an example of such integration. The publication also reports that the “Silk Road Finance & Technology” Forum presented a development strategy for the sector through 2030, focusing on “Open Banking” and the establishment of common interoperability standards.

In conclusion, OSN notes that the development of international payment standards enables Uzbekistan to integrate effectively into the global economy while retaining full control over its national financial system.
