Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan meets with Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva

GENEVA, June 10. /Dunyo IA/. In Geneva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva, held a meeting with Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the information of the Senate Press Service, a substantive exchange of views took place during the conversation regarding the current state and priority areas of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Martin Chungong described Uzbekistan as one of the most active, proactive, and reliable partners of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, highly commending the large-scale democratic reforms implemented in the country in recent years, the transparency of parliamentary activities and the initiatives it advances on the international stage.
During the meeting, it was particularly emphasized that the international forums held in Bukhara and Tashkent, as well as the successful experience accumulated by Uzbekistan in exercising parliamentary oversight over the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), have been recognized by the international community.
In this context, an exchange of views took place regarding the preparations for the Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which will be held in the city of Samarkand this year, and the importance of this prestigious event was underscored.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening partnership relations between Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union and to the consistent continuation of joint initiatives.
