Altai Republic of Russia ready to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with the regions of Uzbekistan

GORNO-ALTAYSK, July 15. /Dunyo IA/. A meeting between the Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk Aslam Akbarov and Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the Altai Republic Irina Petrovskaya, took place in Gorno-Altaysk, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Negotiations were also attended by Minister of Agriculture Andrey Tsygulev and Acting Minister of Economic Development of the region Konstantin Borovykh.
Parties discussed prospects for the further development of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism, and trade. According to Irina Petrovskaya, regions of Uzbekistan rank fourth among the main foreign economic partners of the republic. At the end of 2025, mutual trade turnover increased fivefold, reaching 8.5 million US dollars.
Russian side expressed readiness to increase supplies to Uzbekistan of biopharmaceutical products made from antler raw materials, herbal products, honey and bee products, wool, down, cheeses, as well as confectionery and meat products. In turn, the growing demand for high-quality Uzbek agricultural products in the Altai market was noted.
At the meeting, the Consul General of Uzbekistan emphasized the interest in further increasing supplies of cattle from Altai, including breeding stock, as well as horses and goats. It was noted that nearly 30,000 head of cattle were supplied to Uzbekistan last year.
Minister Andrey Tsygulev reported that regional companies of both countries are actively cooperating with each other. In 2025, 2,300 Gorno-Altai breed goats were supplied to Uzbekistan, compared to 930 head a year earlier.
Uzbek side also advocated for the development of direct contacts between farmers of the two countries, which will reduce the number of intermediaries and lower the cost of the supplied livestock.
Development of tourism became a separate topic of the negotiations. The parties noted the growing interest of Altai residents in the tourism opportunities of Uzbekistan and expressed confidence that the opening of the international terminal of the Gorno-Altaysk airport will contribute to an increase in the mutual tourist flow.
Russian side supported the proposal to hold a video conference in the near future between the Tourism Development Department of Altai, the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan and tour operators of the two countries.
