Tashkent hosts discussions on expanding Uzbek-Sri Lankan Strategic and Economic Cooperation

TASHKENT, July 13. /Dunyo IA/. Within the framework of her working visit to Uzbekistan, Foreign Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Aruni Wijewardane (Ranaraja), held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Shokhrukh Gulamov, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the negotiations, parties reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and comprehensively discussed promising avenues for their further expansion and diversification.
Particular attention was paid to activating trade and economic ties, implementing mutually beneficial projects and strengthening business contacts. It was noted that the economies of the two countries possess complementary potential, which opens up new opportunities for the development of cooperation.
In particular, the parties emphasized the importance of increasing the mutual tourist flow, exchanging experience and implementing joint projects in agriculture, as well as establishing industrial cooperation in the textile industry.
In addition, an exchange of views took place on developing cooperation in the precious stones trade, improving transport and logistics infrastructure, the pharmaceutical industry, and the production of mineral fertilizers.
During the negotiations, the parties also considered the establishment of a Joint Intergovernmental Commission and a Business Council to ensure the systemic development of economic ties between the two countries.
It is anticipated that these mechanisms will serve as an effective platform for coordinating investment and trade projects, expanding direct dialogue between business circles, and promoting new joint initiatives.
