ASTANA, June 15. /Dunyo IA/.  Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan ratified the Agreement on the state border regime between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on June 11^th, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the Kazakh news outlet “Zakon.kz”.

The document regulates the procedure for maintaining the state border, its crossing protocols, and cooperation between the competent authorities of the two countries. It was developed to implement the provisions of the State Border Treaty dated November 16^th, 2001 and to finalize the border demarcation process, which was formally concluded by the agreement of December 22^nd, 2022.

The agreement, concluded on August 8^th, 2024, in Astana, establishes a unified international legal framework for regulating state border relations between the two nations.

The document defines the procedures for maintaining the state border and border markings, crossing protocols for individuals, vehicles, cargo, and other property, as well as regulations for operating flights, conducting economic and other activities within the border zone, and mechanisms for preventing and resolving border incidents.

It is noted that the implementation of the agreement will contribute to strengthening the national security of Kazakhstan, developing border cooperation and increasing the efficiency of interaction between the competent authorities of the two countries, as well as further consolidating the strategic partnership and good-neighbourly relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Previously, Senate of Kazakhstan also ratified the agreement with the United Nations on the establishment of the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in the country.
