Uzbekistan showcases environmental initiatives at the World Environmental Summit in Japan

TOKYO, June 30. /Dunyo IA/.   A high-level presentation highlighting the comprehensive strategic initiatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the fields of ecology and environmental protection has taken place at the Parliament Building of Japan within the framework of the 6th World Environmental Summit, organized by the “World Environment Summit” Organizing Committee and the prominent international non-governmental organization DEVNET International, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was dedicated to the critical imperatives of environmental protection, climate change mitigation, the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the broader expansion of multilateral cooperation across these domains.

International forum convened distinguished members of the Parliament of Japan, representatives of prominent international organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, leading entrepreneurs, civil society institutional representatives and leading experts operating within the ecological sector.

Participants of the forum were thoroughly briefed on the comprehensive structural reforms underway within the Republic of Uzbekistan, the systematic integration of “green” economy principles, the development of renewable energy sources, the enhancement of energy efficiency and the overarching state policy directed at ensuring long-term ecological sustainability.

Furthermore, it was emphasized that highly effective bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan continues to develop dynamically in the fields of climate change mitigation, integrated water resources management, alleviating the consequences of the Aral Sea ecological catastrophe and the advancement of renewable energy and environmental technologies.

According to Masaaki Hirai, Founder of the World Environmental Summit for Sustainable Development Goals in the “Virtual City”, Uzbekistan is receiving profound international acclaim for its advancement of the “green” economy, widespread integration of renewable energy sources, mitigation of climate change impacts, ecological restoration of the Aral Sea region and the strategic environmental initiatives promoted within the framework of the United Nations. Consequently, the pioneering experience and systemic approaches of Uzbekistan have generated exceptional interest among the participants of the event.

Keisuke Yoshida, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the World Environmental Summit, noted that the concrete and highly effective measures undertaken by Uzbekistan to address environmental challenges most notably the mitigation of the salinity levels of the Aral Sea - have left a profound impression on the participants.

According to him, the further reinforcement of friendly relations between Japan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, alongside collaborative efforts in environmental conservation, holds paramount significance. In this regard, the organization and Japanese business circles expressed a strong intent to visit Uzbekistan in the near future to explore avenues for cooperation and establish formal business partnerships.
