Abu Dhabi hosts talks on expanding environmental cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE

ABU DHABI, June 22. /Dunyo IA/. Diplomats from the Embassy of our country met in the UAE with Dr. Muhammad Ahmad bin Fahad, Chairman of the “Zayed International Foundation for the Environment”, reports a Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates in the areas of environmental sustainability, environmental protection, climate change mitigation and the development of a “green” economy.
Dr. Muhammad Ahmad bin Fahad outlined the foundation's activities, highlighting the international environmental programs and projects implemented by the organization to protect natural resources, conserve biodiversity, plant trees, and combat desertification. It was also emphasized that the foundation carries out initiatives aimed at raising ecological awareness and developing environmental education among the youth and the general public.
In turn, the diplomats of Uzbekistan briefed the host on the reforms underway in the country regarding environmental protection, improving the ecological situation in the Aral Sea region, developing renewable energy sources, expanding green infrastructure and adapting to climate change.
The sides particularly emphasized the importance of international cooperation in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and in combating global environmental challenges. In this regard, an exchange of views took place on the possibilities of developing and implementing joint projects in the fields of ecology, climate change, and nature conservation.
Furthermore, agreements were reached on the prospects of exchanging expertise in the field of environmental education, organizing seminars and conferences featuring specialists, implementing innovative technologies aimed at environmental protection, and strengthening the legal and organizational frameworks of bilateral cooperation.
Following the meeting, the foundation’s representatives expressed their readiness to facilitate the development of environmental education and announced their intention to provide the Uzbek side with specialized educational materials and literature on ecology, environmental protection and sustainable development.
