Uzbekistan-Nepal “Roundtable” on economic cooperation held in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, December 13. /Dunyo IA/. A high-level “roundtable” dedicated to advancing trade, economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Nepal was held in Kathmandu, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Senior officials of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, along with representatives of the country’s leading companies operating in the energy, tourism, construction, education and information technology sectors, took part in the event.
Participants were briefed in detail on the wide-ranging reforms under way in Uzbekistan and the country’s ongoing transition towards an open and competitive economy.
During the presentation of Uzbekistan’s investment and tourism potential, particular emphasis was placed on the favourable conditions created for foreign investors, including incentives available in the country’s Free Economic Zones and the ongoing modernisation of the financial and banking system.
Nepalese business leaders expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation, noting Uzbekistan’s impressive pace of economic growth and the steady rise in foreign investment inflows.
The two sides exchanged views on expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation, identifying several key sectors of mutual interest, including hydropower, information technology, education, tourism, manufacturing and others.
Particular attention was devoted to the preferential conditions and opportunities created for foreign investors in Uzbekistan’s rapidly developing market.
During the dialogue, both delegations outlined potential priority areas for strengthening economic engagement between Uzbekistan and Nepal. Hydropower, education and tourism were singled out as the most promising pillars for advancing bilateral cooperation.
The Nepalese side expressed its readiness to share expertise in the construction of small hydropower plants, underscoring the sector’s strong potential for joint projects.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of expanding contacts through B2B and G2B formats, intensifying exchanges of business delegations and organising bilateral business forums to support deeper commercial interaction between the two countries.
