Exhibition is presented by the Russian Academy of Arts. It features works by 18 artists, including Rustam Bazarov, Ibragim Valikhodjayev, Dilorom Rakhimova, Khurshed Khalilov, Tatyana Babushkina, Viktor Glukhov and other authors.
Central concept of the project is the caravan as a symbol of movement, cultural exchange and the interaction of Eastern and Western artistic traditions. The participants draw upon a shared heritage, including the traditions of the Turkestan school of painting, which developed at the intersection of European modernism, Russian plein-air painting and Oriental miniature art.
Artists rephrase this heritage through vibrant colors, decorativeness, and unique spatial representations. Joint plein-air sessions allow the authors to exchange artistic perspectives, while the architecture, light and distinct colour palette of Uzbekistan become essential elements of the artworks.
Alexei Petrov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow Union of Artists, noted the significant interest in the exhibition from both art connoisseurs and visitors who have either already travelled to Uzbekistan or are planning a trip to the country.
According to visitor feedback, exposition allows one to experience the atmosphere of Uzbekistan and witness how artistic dialogue unites the cultures of the two nations. “Art Caravan” project serves as a vital platform for strengthening creative ties between the artists of Russia and Uzbekistan.
