NEW YORK, August 31. /Dunyo IA/. A solemn ceremony to raise the national flag of Uzbekistan was held in New York to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s state independence, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The ceremony took place on the famous Wall Street, one of New York’s most recognizable streets and a symbol of the global financial center. In the heart of Lower Manhattan, Uzbekistan’s national flag was ceremonially raised during the country’s main national holiday.

The event was attended by representatives of the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the United Nations, staff of the Consulate General in New York, leaders and activists of Uzbek diaspora organizations, compatriots, and representatives of other ethnic communities in the city.

Accompanied by the national anthem of Uzbekistan, the flag was raised over one of the most iconic areas of New York. The event carried particular significance as it took place during celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.

The ceremony was followed by a festive concert featuring Uzbek national melodies and traditional dances, showcasing the country’s rich culture and traditions.

The celebration attracted considerable interest from New York residents and visitors. Passersby stopped to watch the ceremony, spoke with participants and inquired about Uzbekistan and the occasion. Many joined the celebration, dancing to Uzbek music and taking photographs, while passing motorists greeted participants with their horns.

Speakers highlighted Uzbekistan’s achievements over the years of independence, the country’s growing international standing, and the continued development of Uzbek-American relations. Particular attention was paid to the role of Uzbek nationals living in the United States in promoting national culture and strengthening friendly ties with American society.

Representatives of the Uzbek diaspora noted that raising Uzbekistan’s national flag in New York during the 35th anniversary celebrations was a special occasion that brought the Uzbek community together and allowed them to share the atmosphere of their homeland’s main national holiday with the people of New York.
