International “Iroqi” Embroidery Festival commences in Shahrisabz

SHAHRISABZ, August 13. /Dunyo IA/.  Today, the three-day International “Iroqi” Embroidery Festival commences in the Shahrisabz District of the Kashkadarya Region, with a focus on promoting traditional national crafts and the unique art of embroidery, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, festival aims to showcase the traditions of Uzbek embroidery, which have been passed down from generation to generation for centuries, promote the work of skilled artisans and generate greater interest in this distinctive art form.

Event brings together skilled embroiderers from various regions of Uzbekistan as well as neighbouring countries, who are presenting unique and valuable examples of their work.

The festival programme includes:

- an exhibition of traditional embroidery;

- presentations of artisans’ creative works;

- embroidery masterclasses;

- exhibitions and presentations dedicated to traditional crafts;

- cultural and entertainment activities;

- experience-sharing sessions between local and international artisans.

Festival will run until August 15th.
