International presentation of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan held at UNESCO Headquarters

• 108PARIS, October 9. /Dunyo IA/. International presentation of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent and the scientific heritage of the great thinkers of Maveraunnahr took place at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
International event was attended by more than 300 people, including heads of international organizations, diplomats, scholars and cultural figures.
Opening ceremony was attended by the President of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference Khondker Mohammad Talha, Chairperson of the UNESCO Executive Board H.E. Dr. Nasser bin Hamad Al Hinzab, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Sciences Professor Denise Pires de Carvalho and Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Dr. Salim bin Mohammed AlMalik.
In their speeches, participants emphasized the significance of the scientific and spiritual heritage of Maveraunnahr for world civilization. Khondker Mohammad Talha noted the contribution of the outstanding thinkers of the region to the development of science, while Nasser bin Hamad Al Hinzab highlighted Uzbekistan's efforts to preserve and popularize Islamic heritage, sharing his impressions from his visit to the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent.
Denise Pires de Carvalho dwelt on the scientific discoveries of Al-Khwarizmi, Al-Biruni, Ibn Sina and Mirzo Ulugbek, emphasizing the relevance of their heritage in the context of contemporary research and digital technologies. In turn, Salim bin Mohammed AlMalik reaffirmed ICESCO’s readiness to facilitate the preservation of cultural heritage and the development of dialogue between civilizations.
Discussions were also attended by the Director General of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) Mahmud Erol Kılıç, Director of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Farhan Nizami, President of the Geneva Diplomatic Circle Robert Blum and other foreign experts. They examined the historical impact of Islamic civilization and opportunities for the further study of its heritage.
Following the conference, participants outlined prospects for expanding cooperation between the Center of Islamic Civilization and UNESCO, as well as international scientific institutions. Presentation served as a platform for promoting the scientific and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan and advancing international dialogue.
