Interparliamentary Groups for Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye hold meeting in Tashkent

TASHKENT, August 15. /Dunyo IA/. Senate on August 13th hosted a regular meeting of the Interparliamentary Groups for Cooperation “Uzbekistan – Türkiye” and “Türkiye – Uzbekistan”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the Information Service of the upper chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the meeting addressed the current state and prospects for multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that, thanks to relations between the leaders of the two countries, underpinned by political will and mutual trust, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye has reached the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.
Consistent intensification of interparliamentary dialogue and mutual visits in recent years was highlighted. The meeting also addressed issues related to ensuring the implementation of the “Roadmap” for Cooperation for 2026–2027, signed in April this year between the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye.
In particular, the participants exchanged views on organising joint events and visits, sharing experience in law-making and parliamentary oversight and supporting mutual initiatives within international parliamentary organizations.
Importance of developing trade and economic and investment cooperation, providing legislative support for industrial cooperation projects, and advancing cooperation in the transport and transit, education, tourism and cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as facilitating the expansion of interregional ties, was emphasised.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to ensure parliamentary oversight of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, organise a visit by the leadership of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye to Uzbekistan and ensure the participation of young parliamentarians from Türkiye in the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which will be held in Samarkand.
