HIGASHIKAWA, July 26. /Dunyo IA/.  National Day of Uzbekistan was held in the town of Higashikawa, Hokkaido Prefecture, with the cooperation of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan and the Higashikawa municipal authorities, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was attended by representatives of the town administration, members of the local council, as well as representatives of educational institutions and the public.

Event highlighted the prospects for Uzbekistan–Japan relations, including cooperation in education, tourism, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Uzbek students performed national dances and stage performances, while an exhibition featuring traditional cuisine, handicrafts and national attire was also organized. At the conclusion of the event, Higashikawa Mayor Kikuuchi Shin congratulated the participants on the 10^th anniversary of the student exchange programme and expressed readiness to further expand cooperation.

As part of the working visit, meetings were held with the leadership of Higashikawa and Cambuchi towns, as well as representatives of local educational and cultural institutions. The meetings resulted in agreements on establishing sister-city relations with regions of Uzbekistan, organizing the first visit of a Higashikawa delegation to Uzbekistan in October this year, and holding a concert by Japanese singer Tokiko Kato and the “National Photo Exhibition of Uzbekistan” in Tashkent in 2027, dedicated to the 35^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.
