TOKYO, November 10 /Dunyo AA/. For the first time, grapes grown in Uzbekistan are being sold in the stores of Japan’s well-known retail chain "AEON", reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

"AEON Co.", Ltd. is one of the leading companies in Japan’s retail sector. The company has consistently high revenue, as well as a large network of stores and shopping centers. In 2024, the company’s turnover is estimated at approximately USD 70.1 billion. It operates more than 20,000 retail locations across Japan and employs over 540,000 staff.
The export of Uzbek grapes to Japan was facilitated by the Japanese company "Washin Trading Co.", Ltd.
Since the Japanese market is traditionally considered challenging to enter, this year the initiative began as a pilot project with the sale of a single type of fruit. Starting in 2026, in cooperation with "AEON", the possibility of selling other agricultural products from Uzbekistan—including melons, lemons, persimmons, pomegranates, broccoli, and more—will be explored in the Japanese market.
