BERLIN, June 21. /Dunyo IA/. Michael Harms, Executive Director of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, shared his perspective with Dunyo IA regarding the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, held in the capital of Uzbekistan from June 16th to 18th:
Uzbekistan plays a pivotal role in the German economy, and the significance of this cooperation continues to expand year after year. In my view, bilateral trade and economic relations are currently progressing at an exceptionally positive pace. German corporations are increasingly intensifying their investments in Uzbekistan’s real economy, industrial sectors, and forward-looking projects.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan serves as a critical supplier of primary raw materials, a reliable partner in the energy sector, and, as a strategic logistics hub, occupies a highly substantial position for the German economy.
In recent years, the Tashkent International Investment Forum has established itself as one of the most authoritative economic platforms in Central Asia. It attracts active participation not only from European and Asian nations but also from numerous business and economic leaders from Germany. The most significant characteristic of the forum is its explicit focus on advancing regional economic cooperation. The region must be viewed not merely as a collection of individual states, but as a unified and interconnected economic space. It is precisely this comprehensive approach that allows the region to fully unlock its economic potential and maximize its investment attractiveness.
In this sense, the forum performs a highly critical function. I am convinced that this economic event fosters the development of mutual dialogue, strengthens regional ties and creates new opportunities for economic cooperation that transcends national borders.
