AICHI-NAGOYA, September 23. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan’s delegation concluded the September 22 competitions at the Asian Games on a successful note, with the country’s athletes securing three silver medals during the day to bring Uzbekistan’s overall medal tally to six, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In the wushu competitions, Darya Latisheva scored 19.413 points to claim the silver medal. It marked the third medal of her Asian Games career.

Uzbekistan’s representatives also reached the finals in the MMA programme. In the women’s up to 60kg weight category, Hilola Sobirova won the silver medal after facing Singapore’s Teo Hui Hoon in the decisive bout. In the men’s modern MMA category, up to 60kg, Firdavs Atamuradov also finished the competition in second place, securing a silver medal.

Uzbekistan’s delegation currently has one gold, four silver and one bronze medal, bringing the country’s total medal tally to six. This result places Uzbekistan ninth in the overall medal standings.

China, Japan and the Republic of Korea continue to lead the medal table.

Uzbekistan’s U-23 national football team is also continuing its successful campaign at the Games. In the third round of Group “C”, Uzbekistan defeated Vietnam 2–0 to complete a perfect group-stage campaign with nine points, finishing top of the group and advancing to the quarter-finals.

On today’s Asian Games programme, Uzbek athletes will compete in rowing, cycling, shooting, fencing, swimming, table tennis, karate, 3x3 basketball, water polo, handball, squash, field hockey, weightlifting and other disciplines.

One of the day’s notable encounters will take place in table tennis, where Uzbekistan will face China in the mixed team event. Uzbekistan’s women’s 3x3 basketball team will also take on Japan, while the women’s water polo team will face Thailand and the handball team will compete against the Republic of Korea. Uzbekistan’s women’s field hockey team will meet hosts Japan.

In weightlifting, Nigora Abdullaeva will compete in the women’s 53kg category. Gulshan Alimardonova will represent Uzbekistan in karate, while Parizod Abdukarimova will compete in swimming and Nigina Saidqulova in shooting, alongside other Uzbek athletes seeking to defend the country’s colours at the Games.
