TOKYO, September 23. /Dunyo IA/.  At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, promotional videos dedicated to the tourism potential of Uzbekistan were broadcast on one of the largest outdoor advertising screens at the iconic Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Project was implemented as part of the Independence Week organized in Japan on the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan. Videos were broadcast daily from September 14 to 20, from 07:00 to 24:00, on a screen with a total area of 424 square meters.

Videos showcased Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage, ancient and modern cities, tourism opportunities, as well as the results of large-scale reforms and socio-economic development achieved in recent years to Japanese passersby.

In parallel with the video broadcasts, a flash mob aimed at promoting the country’s tourism potential was organized with the participation of Uzbek citizens residing in Japan, Japanese friends and the Honorary Culture Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Japan Mashu Komazaki.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, Japan is among the promising tourism markets for Uzbekistan. In 2025, nearly 32,000 Japanese tourists visited the country. Between January and August of the current year, more than 27,000 citizens of Japan arrived in Uzbekistan, representing a 46.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.
