“International Migration Forum–2026”: Tashkent to become a global platform for dialogue on migration policy

TASHKENT, May 11. /Dunyo IA/. The capital city of Uzbekistan will host the “International Migration Forum–2026” on May 18–19, 2026 under the theme “Social and Legal Protection of Labor Migrants and Their Family Members,” reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The prestigious event, jointly organized by the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan and the International Organization for Migration, will focus on advancing modern approaches in the field of labor migration, strengthening the protection of the rights and interests of migrants, improving mechanisms for safe and legal migration and expanding international cooperation in this sphere.
The forum agenda includes plenary sessions with the participation of leading international migration experts, as well as panel discussions dedicated to labor migration, professional skills development, gender equality, youth policy and the impact of climate change on migration processes.
In addition, bilateral and multilateral meetings between employers, government institutions and international organizations are scheduled to take place, alongside a press conference for representatives of international and local media outlets.
The event is expected to bring together representatives of United Nations agencies, international institutions, government bodies, employers from Europe and Asia, civil society organizations, experts and media representatives. More than 300 international participants are anticipated to attend the forum.
The central idea of the forum is to strengthen effective international cooperation mechanisms that promote human dignity and sustainable development through ensuring safe, orderly, and regular migration.
It should be noted that the forum will further reinforce Uzbekistan’s image as a country pursuing an open and humanitarian migration policy, as well as its growing role as an international hub for constructive dialogue and global initiatives.
