ISLAMABAD, May 26. /Dunyo IA/. Facilitated by the Embassy of Uzbekistan, another online meeting was held between the parliamentary cooperation groups of Uzbekistan and Pakistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was attended by representatives of the two countries' parliaments, diplomats, and specialists from various fields. The sides discussed the development of bilateral relations, the strengthening of parliamentary diplomacy and the expansion of cooperation in the legislative sphere.

It was noted that in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan have been consistently developing in the spirit of strategic partnership. Special attention was paid to interaction in the trade, economic, transport, logistics, educational, and tourism spheres.

The meeting participants exchanged views on improving parliamentary oversight, exchanging experience in lawmaking, as well as supporting youth and women. The sides agreed to intensify inter-parliamentary contacts through regular meetings and joint events.

It was also emphasized that the peoples of the two countries are bound by a shared history, culture, and spiritual values. In this regard, the importance of expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation, implementing joint projects in science, education, and culture, as well as developing youth and student exchanges was noted.

High praise was given to the initiative to create a joint cultural center in Lahore dedicated to the heritage of the Baburid dynasty. In addition, the projects to build the “Babur” park and “Tashkent” street in Islamabad were called symbols of friendship between the two peoples.

The sides paid special attention to the development of trade and economic cooperation, the expansion of transport corridors and the strengthening of ties between Central and South Asia.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the development of a joint “roadmap” for the development of inter-parliamentary ties, as well as on the participation of the Pakistani delegation in the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which will be held in September 2026 in Samarkand.
