Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia discuss current issues on the bilateral agenda in Saint Petersburg

ТАSHKENT, June 5. /Dunyo IA/. As part of his working visit to Saint Petersburg, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the Head of our State, the two leaders discussed further expanding and strengthening the Uzbek-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance.
The dynamic development of trade and economic cooperation was noted with satisfaction. Since the beginning of the year, bilateral trade turnover has grown by 20 percent.
The implementation of large-scale projects in industry, energy, metallurgy, transport, the chemical industry, and other priority sectors of the economy is ongoing.
The parties emphasized the importance of maintaining the current dynamics of trade turnover, accelerating cooperation projects, and continuing active contacts at the regional level.
Particular attention was given to further strengthening cultural and humanitarian exchanges. It was noted that the Mariinsky Theatre recently hosted the premiere of George Frideric Handel's opera Tamerlano, while an exhibition of Uzbek applied arts opened at the State Hermitage Museum.
The leaders also discussed the schedule of upcoming events.
