Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan sign the Agreement on Establishment of the High-Level Strategic Partnership Council

ТАSHKENT, October 8. /Dunyo IA/.   Today, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of our State, at the beginning of the meeting, President of Uzbekistan congratulated Serdar Berdymukhamedov on the 35th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence, as well as on his productive chairmanship of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Leaders focused on further deepening Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership relations.

They noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation. Since the beginning of the year, mutual trade has continued to grow steadily, while the Shavat-Dashoguz cross-border trade zone has been operating successfully.

Presidents emphasized the importance of adopting an Action Plan to significantly increase mutual trade and a Cooperation Program in such areas as industry, energy, transport, agriculture and water management, including cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

Following the meeting, Leaders signed an Agreement on the Establishment of the High-Level Strategic Partnership Council, creating a strong institutional framework for further deepening political dialogue and expanding practical cooperation in priority areas.
