ANDIJAN, April 23. /Dunyo IA/. A two-day press tour was held in Andijan for representatives of Uzbekistan’s leading media outlets, aimed at showcasing government initiatives to support vulnerable segments of the population and the conditions created for their social adaptation and development, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event was organized by the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of Uzbekistan.
On the first day, journalists visited the "Imkoniyatlar Olami" (World of Opportunities) center. They explored the infrastructure and programs aimed at supporting children with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
The main areas of the center’s work include social and medical rehabilitation, career guidance, language learning, and additional education for children from low-income families. More than 60 specialists are employed at the center, and beneficiaries are selected through the "Inson" centers.
It is important to note that the "Imkoniyatlar Olami" center is the first of its kind in the country. It is located on a nearly 5-hectare site and consists of 22 buildings, including administrative offices, inclusive education and vocational training facilities, a sports complex with a swimming pool, as well as recreational and educational zones.
During the visit, journalists were introduced to the facilities for additional education, where children with disabilities can study outside the regular school system, access the internet, and learn English, Russian, Korean, and other languages free of charge.
The center also operates a daycare service, providing physical and intellectual activities for both children and adults with disabilities.
The facility is equipped with a modern gym and swimming pool, adapted for individuals with disabilities. Majority of the equipment has been sourced from the United States and complies with recognized international standards for adaptive sports.
The press tour served as a vivid demonstration of how Uzbekistan is implementing state initiatives in the field of social protection and creating conditions for a full life for every person, regardless of physical limitations.
Dunyo IA correspondent spoke with Khilola Khalilova, the director of the "Imkoniyatlar Olami" center in Andijan:
– Our center provides a variety of services based on a comprehensive approach. Currently, we offer services in six main areas. We plan to gradually expand the range of services we provide. In the initial phase, we serve 350 people per day. In the future, we aim to increase this number to 500 people per day. The "Imkoniyatlar Olami" center is more than just an institution – it is a symbol of a new approach to social integration, equal opportunities, and human dignity. Every step we take and every effort we make is dedicated to paving the way toward independence, confidence, and a full, meaningful life in society for every individual.
