Uzbekistan selected as the sole Central Asian country in the Swedish Institute’s SISGP Programme

STOCKHOLM, December 19. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Sweden, Rahmatulla Nurimbetov, held a meeting with Kurt Bratteby, Head of the Department for International Relations at the Swedish Institute, according to a correspondent of the Dunyo News Agency.
The Swedish Institute is a government agency tasked with promoting Sweden globally and fostering international cooperation in the fields of culture, education, research, democracy and sustainable development.
The parties discussed Uzbekistan’s participation in the Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) programme.
In the course of the dialogue, Kurt Bratteby, Deputy Director-General of the Swedish Institute, announced that the Government of Sweden has decided to include Uzbekistan, starting from 2026, in the list of 34 partner countries eligible for fully funded SISGP scholarships.
As a result, Uzbekistan has become the only country in Central Asia to join this prestigious programme aimed at nurturing future leaders.
The Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals, a master’s-level programme, is designed to develop promising leaders committed to advancing sustainable development in their home countries and regions. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic excellence, professional and leadership experience, as well as their demonstrated potential to contribute to sustainable development.
Sustainable development, engineering and technological sciences, digitalisation and innovation, green energy, healthcare, natural sciences, as well as public administration currently rank among the most in-demand fields of study under the programme.
Representatives of Uzbekistan may apply to participate in the programme in their respective areas of interest until 15 January 2026. Detailed information on the application procedure is available on the official website of the Swedish Institute.
