A unique culinary festival "Tandir Fest" opens at the foot of the Baysun mountains

BAYSUN, May 2. /Dunyo IA/. Today, the first-ever "Tandir Fest" festival takes place in the Baysun district of the Surkhandarya region, attracting the attention not only of local residents but also tourists from various parts of the country and abroad, reports Dunyo IA correspondent from the scene.

The event is organized by the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the Khokimiyat of Surkhandarya region.
The purpose of the festival is to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region, particularly the unique traditions and skills of cooking in a tandir, which is an integral part of Uzbek culinary culture.
As part of the festival, guests had the opportunity to see the process of preparing various dishes in the tandir, from bread to meat, and also learn about local crafts and traditions.
The event features masterclasses on cooking "Meat in a Tandir" with chefs from different regions, exhibitions of national traditions and folk art, as well as craft fairs. In addition, hot air balloon launches, performances by folklore ensembles, and dance groups are being organized.
The festival will conclude with a gala concert featuring well-known artists from the country.
In an interview with Dunyo IA correspondent, Nigora Lutfullaeva, Deputy Khokim of the Denov district and head of the women’s and family department, emphasized that significant events are taking place in Surkhandarya region, with the "Tandir Fest" being one of them. She mentioned that such events contribute not only to the development of tourism but also to the preservation and popularization of traditions.
"Today, at the foot of the Baysun mountains, a unique tandir festival is taking place. 15 districts have set up their traditional tandirs, where they prepare dishes with a unique taste and aroma. Visitors are witnessing the process of cooking meat in the tandir, while enjoying the atmosphere and culinary traditions of the region.
This is an important step towards making the region more attractive to tourists and making it known on the international stage", she said.
The festival will continue until May 4.
