World Journalists Conference commences in Seoul to address the future of journalism

SEOUL, March 31. /Dunyo IA/. The World Journalists Conference (WJC) 2025 has officially commenced in the capital of South Korea, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The conference has gathered 62 journalists from 52 countries, including media representatives from Uzbekistan.

The event’s key topics focus on the future of journalism in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) and the role of journalism in addressing environmental challenges and climate change.

During the inaugural plenary session, participants are engaging in discussions on pressing issues such as the legislative regulation of AI in the information sector, the potential applications of AI in journalism, and the perception of AI as an auxiliary tool in journalistic practice. The conversation also includes the ethical implications of AI, particularly regarding its potential misuse for the dissemination of disinformation or the distortion of facts.

The participants are examining the ethical considerations surrounding AI-generated content, including issues of transparency and the veracity of such material. Additionally, they are deliberating on the need for legislative frameworks to curb the spread of disinformation and safeguard the rights of journalists in an increasingly AI-driven media landscape.

As part of the conference’s extensive program, journalists are afforded opportunities to exchange experiences, share insights, and engage in intellectual dialogue on the pertinent topics. Moreover, the program includes visits to significant cultural and historical sites across South Korea, providing a platform for informal discussions and further networking among attendees.

The conference is being organized by The Journalists Association of Korea, founded in 1964, which currently represents over 11,000 journalists from more than 200 media organizations. Since its inception in 2013, the World Journalists Conference has expanded both in scope and international participation, reflecting the growing significance of these global discussions in the field of journalism.
