CAIRO, September 21. /Dunyo IA/. On September 15–20^th, a working visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to the Arab Republic of Egypt took place, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Main purpose of the visit was to study Egypt's desert territories, exchange experience on the efficient use of water resources and develop animal husbandry in arid regions.

224-member delegation, comprising government officials, farmers and entrepreneurs, initially met with Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam, to conduct negotiations on cooperative ties. During the conversation, the parties discussed issues related to desert reclamation, the rational use of surface and groundwater, as well as water recycling and reuse.

Delegation members also familiarized themselves with modern pivot irrigation technologies at the “Elsewedy Wataniya” company. Within the framework of cooperation with the Agricultural Research Center (ARC), the opportunities for cultivating high-yielding wheat, maize, and desert-adapted rice varieties grown in Egypt under the conditions of Uzbekistan were reviewed.

A significant part of the visit consisted of B2B meetings held with the participation of agricultural sector representatives from both countries.

Event in Cairo gathered nearly 400 farmers, entrepreneurs, and company representatives, who exchanged views on modern irrigation technologies, animal husbandry, establishing a forage base, agrotechnology and direct cooperation on investment projects.

Concurrently, our representatives familiarized themselves with Egypt's “Future of Egypt” (Mostaqbal Misr) project. Using the project as a case study, the practical mechanisms of desert land reclamation, water conservation and establishing agricultural production were studied.

During the meeting with Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt Alaa Farouk, experience of desert land reclamation, specifically the prospects for its application in the Navoi region, was discussed.

On the field plots of the National Water Research Center (NWRC) and the Agricultural Research Center, the experience in water resources management, irrigation technologies and testing various crop varieties was studied.

In negotiations with the heads of “Arco Seeds” and “Elsewedy Wataniya” companies, issues regarding the introduction of Egyptian experience in Uzbekistan, pasture improvement and the implementation of technologies for livestock forage production and storage were discussed.

During the visit, concrete practical directions were defined in the fields of water-saving technologies, desert reclamation, modern animal husbandry, establishing a forage base, scientific research, digitalization and private sector cooperation.

Agreements reached establish an important practical foundation for utilizing the Egyptian experience in reclaiming new lands, developing agricultural production and advancing animal husbandry in the Navoi region and other desert territories of Uzbekistan.
