ISLAMABAD, February 19. /Dunyo IA/. A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Sherzod Khidoyatov, visited Islamabad to discuss the construction of the Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur Park, a gift from the President of Uzbekistan to the people of Pakistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Discussions on the “Babur Park” project were held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan. Participants included Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services Sherzod Khidoyatov, Director of Land and Rehabilitation at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Sania Hameed Pasha, Director Environment (East) at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Akhtar Rasool, Chief Architect of HRL Imran Aslam, General Manager Shamil Khan and Advisor to the Chairman Khalid Taimur Akram.

The parties discussed architectural solutions, infrastructure and key stages of the garden’s construction, with particular focus on the application of modern urban planning practices and advanced architectural technologies.

Participants emphasized that the initiative to build “Babur Park” was proposed during the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan on 5–6 February of this year. The park is intended as a spiritual gift from the Uzbek people to the people of Pakistan, symbolizing friendship and mutual respect.

Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev outlined the significance of the garden, its conceptual directions, and the projected timeline. According to him, “Babur Garden” will serve not only as a recreational area but also as a symbol of historical memory and cultural heritage, uniting the two nations.

As part of the project presentation, the master plan of the garden, landscape design, engineering utilities, environmental approaches and safety measures were showcased.

“Babur Park” will be developed on a 2.5-hectare plot in Sector F-7 of Islamabad. The site will feature modern attractions for children and adults, sports facilities, walking paths, fountains, green zones, and a teahouse serving traditional Uzbek cuisine. At the center of the garden, a bust of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur - the great thinker and statesman - will be installed. The park will also provide spaces for cultural events and family recreation.

Participants discussed the next steps for refining the garden’s concept, ensuring a harmonious integration of national traditions with modern architectural solutions and maintaining high-quality project implementation.

Following the “roundtable”, the delegation visited the designated construction site and conducted on-site assessments for the project.

The parties emphasized that the realization of this initiative in Islamabad will contribute to preserving the heritage of Babur and the Baburid dynasty, passing it on to future generations, while also strengthening the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
