STOCKHOLM, September 16. /Dunyo IA/.  Delegation of Uzbekistan, led by the Advisor to the President on Religious and Enlightenment Affairs and Rector of the International Islamic Academy Muzaffar Kamilov, held a meeting in Sweden with representatives of the Swedish Center for Preventing Violent Extremism (CVE), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, the Uzbek side presented information on the measures being taken in the country to prevent violent extremism and radicalization, as well as on the ongoing reforms in the religious and enlightenment sphere.

Parties exchanged views on preventive approaches, improving religious literacy, developing education and scientific research, as well as the significance of interaction among various social institutions.

Special attention was focused on international experience and scientific approaches in the field of preventing violent extremism. The participants emphasized the importance of evidence-based research, as well as the development of scientific and practical cooperation.

During the talks, the role of education and religious enlightenment in preventing radicalization was also discussed, along with the necessity of comprehensive interaction among various public institutions.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to consistently continue cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden in these areas and to exchange practical experience in the field of preventing violent extremism.
