• 318PARIS, July 17. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan has joined one of the key international agreements in the field of tax cooperation – the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters (MAAC), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Signing ceremony of the document took place on July 15 at the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
Joining the convention creates an international legal framework for Uzbekistan to expand cooperation in the field of tax administration and implement modern transparency standards. The document provides for the exchange of tax information upon request and automatically, conducting simultaneous tax audits, as well as mutual assistance in the recovery of tax claims.
Currently, 152 states and jurisdictions are parties to the convention. By joining the agreement, Uzbekistan will be able to interact with them in the tax sphere without the need to conclude separate bilateral treaties with each country.
Participation in the convention is expected to contribute to increasing the efficiency of the fight against tax evasion and illegal capital flight, as well as strengthening international business confidence in the reforms being carried out in the country.
