ST. PETERSBURG, June 27. /Dunyo IA/. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg, in cooperation with FC Neftchi, will organize a dedicated fan zone to support the Uzbek club during its friendly match against FC Zenit St. Petersburg, scheduled for July 8 at 9:00 p.m. Tashkent time, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Founded in 1925, Zenit St. Petersburg is one of Russia’s most successful football clubs, having won 10 Russian league titles, five Russian Cups, and the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2008.
The club also enjoys a strong commercial profile. Its home matches at the Gazprom Arena, which has a capacity of 67,800 spectators, regularly attract the highest average attendance in the Russian Premier League, with more than 30,000 fans per game. Zenit’s combined digital audience exceeds 4.5 million followers, while the club’s squad is valued at more than €160 million.
To encourage strong support from the Uzbek community, the Consulate General has published bilingual announcements in Uzbek and Russian on its official Telegram channel. The information has also been shared with bloggers and news platforms to broaden public outreach.
Supporters of FC Neftchi are expected to gather in Sections 111 and 112 of the Gazprom Arena. Bringing fans together in a dedicated area is intended to create a vibrant atmosphere and strengthen unity among Uzbek compatriots residing in St. Petersburg.
The Consulate General is also working on providing supporters with Neftchi club merchandise, including T-shirts, caps, and scarves, to ensure the Uzbek fans are prominently visible in the stadium.
