BANGKOK, May 22. /Dunyo IA/. A seminar titled “Silk Road Gateway” was held in Bangkok, organized by the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the representative office of the Uzbek airline Centrum Air in Thailand, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event brought together around 70 tour operators and industry experts representing more than 30 leading tourism companies and agencies in Thailand.

During the seminar, participants were briefed on Uzbekistan’s achievements in developing its tourism sector, its modern infrastructure, and the favourable conditions created for foreign visitors. In his address, Consul General of Uzbekistan Fakhriddin Sultanov highlighted the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage, including ancient monuments, sacred sites, mausoleums of great ancestors, and works of art that may be of particular interest to Thai tourists.

He also emphasized that the visa application process for Thai citizens has been significantly simplified. Addressing transport and logistics issues, he noted that Centrum Air currently operates six direct flights per week from Bangkok and Phuket to Tashkent.

It was further highlighted that a decade ago, only one national airline operated in Uzbekistan’s aviation market, whereas today, as a result of ongoing reforms, the number of domestic carriers has exceeded ten. This development has fostered a competitive environment and made travel to Uzbekistan more convenient for foreign tourists.

Within the framework of the seminar, promotional videos in English and Thai were presented, showcasing the attractions of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Tashkent. Particular interest among participants was generated by a presentation on the activities of the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan.

At the conclusion of the event, a lottery was held among Thai tour operators, with free round-trip tickets on the Bangkok–Tashkent–Bangkok route provided by Centrum Air being awarded as prizes.
