Uzbekistan aims to attract 20 million tourists by 2030 under new “Roadmap”

BRUSSELS, May 20. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan has approved a new “roadmap” for the development of the tourism industry until 2030, focused on a significant increase in the number of foreign tourists and strengthening the role of tourism in the country's economy, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the Belgian publication “Travel Tomorrow”.

In the framework of the strategy, it is planned to bring the flow of foreign tourists to 20 million people per year and increase the industry's contribution to GDP to 7%. The growth of tourism services export is also forecasted to exceed 6 billion US dollars.

The development of the industry will be built on a project-based principle, including infrastructure creation, entrepreneurship development, destination promotion and the formation of the tourist experience. The development of master plans and the construction of new infrastructure facilities are envisioned for dozens of key sites.

Particular attention is paid to the diversification of tourism destinations. In addition to traditional centers - Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva - the plan includes the development of ecological, ethnographic, pilgrimage, medical, sports, and business tourism, as well as new regional routes.

The roadmap also provides for the expansion of hotel infrastructure to more than 8,000 accommodation facilities and the further development of services for tourists, including digital solutions and international booking platforms.

The industry is already demonstrating growth: during the first months of 2026, an increase in the number of foreign tourists and a rise in tourism services exports were recorded, confirming the sustainable development of the sector and its growing attractiveness in the international market.
