ISLAMABAD, September 8. /Dunyo IA/.   Within the framework of the Uzbekistan Tourism Days held in Pakistan, a tourism roadshow themed “Uzbekistan: The Land Where History and the Future Meet” and “Uzbekistan Tourism Excellence Awards 2026” ceremony took place, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was attended by Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Advisor and National Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Tourism, Aftab ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), along with representatives from travel agencies, airlines, the hospitality sector, tourism business circles and leading media outlets.

During his speech, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev noted that the friendly relations between the fraternal peoples, united by a shared cultural and historical heritage, common values, and centuries-old civilizational ties, have entered the level of strategic partnership in recent years.

Particular attention was paid to the tourism potential of Uzbekistan. In particular, the participants were briefed on the world-famous ancient cities – Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Termez and Kokand, whose historical sites are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as on updated tourist attractions, including the Center for Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the Imam Al-Bukhari Complex and the “Arda Khiva” complex.

Information was also presented on the modern infrastructure and opportunities of Uzbekistan in the fields of pilgrimage, medical, gastronomic, educational, winter and ecological tourism. Special emphasis was placed on the country's prospects in the MICE tourism sector.

Ambassador urged representatives of the business circles specializing in the tourism industry to organize major corporate events in Tashkent and Samarkand, combining them with tourist trips to Bukhara and Khiva, as well as to develop new tourism programs.

Advisor and National Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Tourism, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, noted that the launch of direct and regular flights from Tashkent to Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi demonstrates a systematic and practical approach by Uzbekistan to the development of the tourism industry. He expressed interest in studying our country's experience in this sector.

“In order to study Uzbekistan's experience, I plan to personally participate in the 31^st Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road”, which will take place this November”, he stated.

Within the framework of the event, the Tourism Brand Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Hamid Mahmoud, gave a presentation on the tourism potential of our country. Representatives of “Uzbekistan Airways” and “Centrum Air” airlines, in turn, spoke about the opportunities created for Pakistani passengers, as well as the incentives and advantages provided to travel companies.

In the second part of the roadshow, ten of the most active travel companies that have made a significant contribution to increasing the flow of Pakistani tourists to Uzbekistan were, for the first time, honored with the “Uzbekistan Tourism” award established by the Embassy.

At the conclusion of the event, a concert of Uzbek music and dance performed by the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan was presented to the guests.
