Andijan Region and Russia’s Irkutsk region to move their previously signed bilateral agreement into a practical phase

IRKUTSK, April 13. /Dunyo IA/. On April 10-13, a delegation from the Andijan region, led by Deputy Khokim Ilkhom Sabirov, visited the Irkutsk region of Russia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During their stay in Irkutsk, the Uzbek delegation held extensive negotiations with Roman Kolesov, First Deputy Governor of the Irkutsk Region. The meeting included representatives from Irkutsk regional government, “My Business” regional center, Regional Development Corporation and the business community involved in trade and economic relations with Uzbek companies.
“The regions of Uzbekistan remain among the primary foreign trade partners of our region within the CIS and rank fifth in terms of export volume. I am confident that our joint efforts, as well as our traditions of friendship and good neighbourliness, will continue to guide our peoples along the path of mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation”, - emphasized Roman Kolesov.
Viktor Tsishkovsky, Minister of Economic Development and Industry of the Irkutsk Region, noted that the visit of the Andijan delegation is a significant step toward implementing the Agreement signed during the second Forum of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan.
“It is fundamentally important for us not only to maintain the achieved level of cooperation but also to fill it with specific, practical projects. The Irkutsk Region is ready to offer its expertise in industry, innovation and many other sectors to our Uzbek partners and we see a sincere interest from our colleagues in deepening cooperative ties”, - said Viktor Tsishkovsky.
It should be noted that on October 22, 2025, within the framework of the second meeting of the Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Andijan and Irkutsk regions, providing for the development of mutually beneficial relations in trade, economic, social, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Following the current meeting, an agreement was reached to hold negotiations between companies from Uzbekistan and the Priangarye region at the “INNOPROM. Central Asia” International Industrial Exhibition on April 20-22, 2026, in Tashkent.
Plans also include organizing a joint webinar on using electronic trading platforms and conducting an Uzbek business mission to the Irkutsk Region.
Additionally, representatives from several Irkutsk companies, such as
“Gorstroy” and “IP Vlasov” - which specialize in modern home construction and apparel manufacturing - presented their activities to the Uzbek delegation.
Uzbek delegation also visited several enterprises, such as “Akku-Tekh” (Battery Technologies), “TM Baikal” and “Svirsky Gurman” in the city of Svirsk, Irkutsk Region.
In particular, “TM Baikal” is one of the largest timber producers in the Irkutsk Region, featuring modern equipment, high automation and an annual production volume of 120,000 cubic meters, while “Svirsky Gurman” is a regional leader in food production.
